INSPIRED BY REAL LIFE
Books
Stories for slow mornings, cultivating wonder, and backyard wandering
RELEASE DATE: NOV 10, 2026
About the Book:
"Barb had her birds - and her peaceful routine."
Then everything changes.
When Irene moves in next door, Barb's quiet mornings turn into a full-blown battle for the backyard birds. Bird feeders multiply. Bird seed piles up... Join little Timmy, the boy next door, as he watches it all unfold - not so sure this battle is going to end well.
Battle for the Birds is a playful story about a neighborly rivalry, an unlikely friendship, and the joy of working together - brought to life with warm, retro-inspired illustrations set in the charm of the 1960s and '70s. Along the way, young readers get an introduction to common backyard birds and the foods they love - the perfect springboard for their own backyard bird-watching adventures.
A joyful read-aloud for budding birders, nature-loving families, and a reminder that friends can be found anywhere - even in your own backyard!
Why we wrote it:
We both grew up in families that loved wildlife, where a surprise visitor at the feeder was cause for excitement. Those quiet moments of noticing and wonder stayed with us.
When we started sharing that with our own kids, we wanted them to experience the joy of being part of the whole process: filling the feeder, choosing the right seed, learning who likes what, waiting, and finally spotting a new friend. So we wrote ‘Battle for the Birds’ to be more than a playful story. It's an invitation to look closely, learn what each bird needs, and make a little room for them at your own home.
We hope it gets your family outside, or at least to the nearest window.
